My teaching approach

According to the communicative approach and its principles has been developed this programming thus, the education is conceived as a constructive process in which the attitude of teacher and student can maintain meaningful learning.

Following this constructivist teaching, the student becomes the motor of his own learning process when modifying their schemes itself knowledge. The constructivist conception of teaching can also ensure the functionality of learning, namely to ensure that students can use what they learn in real circumstances, either with implementation, or using it as a tool to achieve new learning.

To get a real assimilation of knowledge by every student, learning must be meaningful, namely close to their experience and references, potentially motivating and really functional.

In summary, the learning process, understood in this constructivist model, meets the following requirements:

  • Part of the developmental level of students and their prior learning.
  • Ensure the construction of meaningful learning through the mobilization of their prior knowledge and understanding of memorization.
  • the students made ??significant learning on their own.
  • Provide situations that students should update their knowledge.
  • Provide learning situations that are meaningful to the students, in order to make them motivating.

 

1      - For beginner :

 

We should introduce them the benefit of the English language and the importance of knowing English in this time and that English could be the gate to the whole world communication and that we should work hard and do the best to get the best results and have the highest level in short time .

Here we will face many questions like : when could I speak English ¿

Am I ready to speak a good English ¿

Is it interesting language ¿

Is it hard ¿ ……… Etc

We should praise students and give them self-confidence that they can do it and they should work hard and give much attention to the teacher´s advices and rules .

Teachers should start the alphabet and the pronunciation of the letters  ( A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,G,K,L,M,N,O,P,Q,R,S,T,U,V,W,X,W,Z)

We could give example of each one like A : Apple , B : banana , C : cat , D:dog …etc

Then how we pronounce : SH , CH , PH , TH with example here we should pay attention if they can pronounce it in good way or not if its hard for them so we practice it a lot till they have it clear .

The aim of this classes for beginners shuold be to make sure that they have the knowledge of basic English rules .

Students have to like the teacher because it will be the first conntact with the English language so if they are not happy or comfortable with their teacher so it would be very hard to teach or to control them , make the class funny and useful without losing the control of your students

Then we could start to make them try to make conversation like introduce theirselves and do it in couples :

Hello , How are you ¿

I´m fine , thanks you , and you how are you ¿

I’m good .

What is your name ¿

I´m Juan and you what is your name ¿

I´m jean , Where are you from ¿

How old are you ¿

Have you got any brothers or sister ¿ …….. Etc

These basic question could make them happy and  prove that they can make more complicated conversations

Then we could use pictures of colors , numbers , animals , food ….. etc and tell them to write it and say it

We should work of the listening and put some CD of native speakers so they will know more what is the perfect English and they could try to do it the same as speakers

Writing : the basic English

Reading : some texts with the things that we have been learning .

 

·       For intermediate students :

Sometimes we could see in this lever that they are mixed they could be intermediate-beginners or intermediate-advanced students so depending of their case we would have 2 different method of teaching .

In both cases we should revise what information do they have and remind them in the grammar and their functions by giving examples

If they are closer to the beginners so we should work more on the grammar and fill the lack that they have and make sure that its clear for them because the aim of this level is to make them prepared for speak the good English and be ready to go the the advanced course

If they are closer to advanced so its possible to have a good grammar knowledge but bad English pronunciation or problems with the communication so we should practice more ( speaking and listening )

In this intermediate course we should make our students ready for the last level and make sure that they know the basic things ( how to write and pronounce, Irregular verbs , grammar , conversation , translation ) .

We should work more with couple conversation and see how they react when they speak together and if they can recognize their errors and correct it by them selves , if this way we could see if they are getting better or not .

Use more materials and raise the level every time more and more like songs with a simple and basic words then we could make it more complicated  .

 

 

·       For advanced students :

 

These people have all the the knowledge of English grammar and have more less good level of conversation .

So first at all we should make sure that their English grammar is perfect for example you can´t have conversation if you don’t know what is the past participle of  Sleep ¡!

After a quick revise  of grammar we can have different kind of conversation with technical terms close ot their profession or just to have the lever to read a book or a newspaper .

For these level materials are very easy to find and all we need is practice for example translating a song or write the lyrics

Watch a movie and translate it or explain it in English , read a newspapers and explain the vocabularies or just lean the new words so when we practice more we will have higher level depending on the speed up of our student and the importance of learning for him , that´s what we talked about in the beginning of the assignment ; you can´t say how long we need to learn a language of to improve it ¡!

Its depending on our practice and love for this language , if you want so you can this is my quote in life

But in this level we can´t say very good for our student if he is not very good , we need to be strict to make him a good English speaker but Priase is also important to give the student confidence specially if he is doing the things in perfect way and try to correct him error he could commit

 

In general my method of teaching is use in every class ( grammar , conversation )

More grammar or more conversation depending on the student , for example for a student with low grammar knowledge we could use 60 % grammar , 10 % listing , 10 % reading , 10 % speaking and 10 % writing .

So we could improve the 4 essential skills at the same time ,We are also going to consider what skills we should develop in the students themselves

 

HOW DO WE STRUCTURE COMMUNICATIVE LANGUAGE TEACHING IN THE CLASSROOM?

 

The main is to give students the opportunity to learn something in context, have it modelled by the teacher, practice it in a controlled way and then practice it freely.


Warm up: This is an initial 5 minute stage to relax students and make them thinking and speaking in the target language.

Presentation: Teacher sets the context for the students. Given rules for the topic might be given from the context. The point is to make the students understand the language, vocabulary, situation, or other language focus of the class.

Practice: Students begin to use what the teacher presented in the first part by using drills that go from controlled to less control. These can be written or oral drills.

Production: Teacher allows students to use what they learned in an uncontrolled way through role-plays, discussions, language games, etc. The teacher monitors students from a distance so that students can feel free to try out what they´ve learned. After the activity, the teacher gives feedback to the students about common errors and also on the correct language that was used.


Evaluation :          

The evaluation is important for the teacher At the end of every unit because it allows teacher to know their students and to know the level they have by :

·       direct obervation( items , questions )

·        

·       communications with the family ( for kids )
