My teaching approach

Passing on my love and interest for language and literature has driven me to study French and English literature alongside other languages throughout my education as reflected on my curriculum vitae. Having  learnt different languages during my studies, I understand the difficulties and worries students can have which I take into account for lesson planning and I ensure to support them academically.
For all my classes, I endeavour to create a positive learning environment using teaching styles such as group work, collaborative learning, class discussion through debate, use of audio and visual aids and incorporate ICT into lessons wherever possible.  All lessons are tailored and differentiated to the needs of individual children, ensuring work is suitably challenging for all. Through teaching a broad and balanced curriculum, I aim to ensure students fulfil their true potential in every aspect of school life, whatever their ability, background or gender and liaise other staff to discuss and ensure their progress and happiness. In addition, I have successfully employed a learner-centred and collaborative approach when teaching and found that this led to many positive student outcomes. There are many techniques, skills, and practices that can make a teacher effective.  In my opinion, being an effective teacher means allowing an environment that enables students to learn in the classroom to their best abilities.  When effective teaching is practiced, students develop a love for learning and gain new knowledge about what they are studying.  Effective teaching can stem from many different practices and ideas such as attitude toward subject matter, implementing different learning styles into lessons, and being passionate about the subject being taught.   All of these ideas can help a teacher become more effective in the classroom.  It is true that effective teaching also allows students to better understand new material and difficult content. Being a teacher means making several decisions concerning planning for instruction, developing teaching strategies, and evaluating outcomes of lesson plans.

As a matter of fact, one teaching strategy among a wide range of others that I consider an effective method of teaching is cooperative learning involving students in small groups with different levels of ability. This teaching style adopts a range of learning activities to make understanding of the subject easier. Each member in a group apart from learning also has the responsibility of helping teammates to learn. Also each group member has a specific task and everyone must be involved in the learning because the success of the group usually depends on the successful work of every individual member. Again group members continue to practice concepts until the whole group are able to understand and can complete the task that is given. The possibility for achievement by a team can be high when all team members take part in the group activities. Being committed to group discussions makes a lot of information available to the group members, which in turn helps students to take a lot of information on board hence improving their thinking and decision making. When students learn in small teams they mentally analyse what they know, put their view across and expand on it and feel free to ask questions for clarification. Effective and task oriented teams usually have a positive outcome
