FOR & TO
FOR and TO - confusing words
Do you know how to use them correctly?
We use FOR and TO to talk about the purpose of action.
- For + Noun
- To + Infinitive
Example:
- We went to the supermarket for milk.
- We stopped at the service station for petrol.
- We went to the theatre to watch a play.
- I will go to London to see the olympic games.
NEVER use FOR & TO together
- I use a hairdryer for to dry my hair (Incorrect) X
- I use a hairdryer to dry (infinitive) my hair √
We can also use FOR to talk about the purpose of something
FOR + ing
- For running
- For slicing
- For cooking
