I've had enough





 

 

Do you know how to use the word 'enough'?

 

 

 

Enough can be used as an adverb or as an adjective to express degree

  • Is your tea hot enough? (adjective)

  • She didn't work hard enough (adverb)


It can also be used to mean quite

  • He is not good enough.

  • Strangely enough, he was really bad at acting


It can also be used before nouns to mean as much, as necessary

  •  We have enough food for everyone

  • They don't have enough bread


Sayings with 'enough'

1. Enough is Enough - when you want something to stop

  •  I said enough is enough


2. Enough said - when you understand what they have said and don't want to say any more.

  • Schools in general don't want any part of it, enough said.


3. She's had enough - wanting to stop because it is frustrating

  • She has had enough for one day.


4. That's enough - when you want to tell someone to stop doing something (bad behaviour)

  • That's enough, now go to your room.
