How to log on to......? verbs with fixed prepositions



 

Do you know how to use verbs with fixed prepositions?

Prepositional verbs are transitive and require an object. This object is normally stated but sometimes implied.
Log on to
Play on
Apply for
Believe in
Belong to
Complain to
Listen to

- Most prepositional verbs consist or an intransitive root verb + a particle.
- Some prepositional verbs are formed using a transitive verb and a particle.
- an intransitive verb transforms to a transitive verb:

  • look / look at / look for

  • wait / wait for

  • come / come through.
