Business interaction: Giving and accepting excuses for not meeting commitments

Here are some useful phrases related to excuses for not meeting appointments or commitments:


























































appointment Listen
Definition:  An arranged meeting time usually with a professional. E.g a doctor, a dentist, a psychiatrist etc.
Example:  I have an appointment with my dentist at 7pm
due to Listen
Definition:  Used to say why something happened. Used to explain reasons.
Example:  Due to the cancelled flight, I will be 4 hours late for the meeting in New York
Please accept my apologies Listen
Definition:  A formal way to say sorry. Often used in business
Example:  Please accept my apologies. I am very sorry for what I said.
We will have to re-schedule Listen
Definition:  Term used when we have to change the date of a meeting/ appointment
Example:  I am on holiday on tuesday. We will have to re-schedule for Wednesday
