English tips #13 Good and Well

Good v WellGOOD and WELL (Often confused by native and non-native speakers)

  • Good is an adjective - It describes nouns or pronouns. (person, place, thing, idea, or concept). 

  • Well is an Adverb - It describes verbs (sometimes adjectives) and is used with most other verbs. (describes HOW something is done).


Examples:

  • The cake is so GOOD.

  • It was a GOOD website.

  • You sing the song very WELL.

  • She played the piano WELL.


INCORRECT - You did the job good

 

Correct - You did the job well (well answers how)
